Ghanaians were shocked recently after a woman identified as Abigail Mawutor Rawlings claimed to be the first daughter of late ex-president Jerry John Rawlings.

Following the claim by the 52-year-old woman, the family of J.J Rawlings has confirmed the claim.

A report by mynewsgh indicates that the family of the late J.J Rawlings confirmed that they welcomed the prodigal daughter of Rawlings, Abigail Mawutor into the family in 2002.


The family revealed that although the late former president neither confirmed nor denied being the biological father of Abigail Mawutor, he occasionally sent her money to support her and also helped her to start a business.

A family member who spoke on terms of anonymity commended Rawlings’ estranged daughter for being committed to the activities of the family after being welcomed.
