VOLTA REGION OF GHANA FORCEFULLY BECOMING A COUNTRY ON ITS OWN?
Giant sign posts have been mounted in Juapong in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region. These signposts are welcoming people to what they call the Western Togoland.
The separatist group is fighting to be independent. And they call themselves ‘Western Togoland’ which include the entire of Volta region.
One of the separatist spoke to a journalist that they are seeking for independence after they also blocked roads in Juapong in the early hours of Friday September 25.
Some group of armed men alleged to have forcibly taken over police stations simultaneously and overpowering the police officers, broke into the armoury of the officers, and made away with all the weapons.
“They took away the weapons of the officers and locked them in the cells before breaking into the armoury,” said an eye witness.
Rioters of Western Togolanders also used heaps of sand to block the Mepe-Sege road and the Accra-Ho road at Juapong, causing heavy flow of traffic.
