THE BEST EPL SIGNINGS OF THE SUMMER SO FAR

Many great signings were made across Europe during the summer. Some have hit the ground running already, some have been halted by injuries, and others by lack of playing time. Let us take a look at some top EPL signings across the summer ( in no order, you can make the order in the comments section per your opinion).

EDOUARD MENDY

Mendy has been a revelation to Chelsea’s backline this season. Chelsea had to suffer under the horrors of the most expensive goalkeeper ever, Kepa during last season and the beginning of this season. With the arrival of Mendy, Chelsea’s defence looks tighter again with him leading the race for the golden glove despite playing about 3 less matches.

JAMES RODRIGUEZ

A player that always excels under Don Carlo Ancelotti, we are not even surprised that James is doing this great. He already has 6 goals involvements in 10 matches in the EPL and his creativity has helped Dominic Calvert Lewin score 11 goals and in lead for the EPL golden boot. He was bought from Real Madrid during the summer and excelled under Ancelotti at the club and Bayern Munich.

PIERRE EMILE HOLBERG

Everyone is so busily talking about how Son and Kane are carrying Tottenham HotSpurs to a possible Premier League conquest. People are beginning to finally acknowledge Hugo Lloris’ contributions as well. But no one talks about Holberg. He was signed from Southampton during the summer by Jose Mourinho. Holberg’s defensive qualities have been shown this season and have helped improve the Spurs’ backline. There were many times his interceptions started a counter attack for Spurs to hit on it and score. A player that passes the eye test, he is proven to being Spurs’ Kante this season.

THIAGO SILVA

If you ask me the best signing so far, it is Thiago Silva for me. Many thought this Chelsea defence was uncoachable but with the introduction of Silva, Chelsea now have one of the best defences in Europe. Mendy keeps a lot of clean sheets but he barely faces shots due to this man. He was nominated for Player of the Month last month and that alone shows just how great he is. Many said he was too old and were almost proven right after Silva’s mistake against West Bromwich, but the Brazilian has proved everyone wrong with consistent performances and helps in building attack from back.

GABRIEL MAGALHAES

Arsenal are doing terrible this season but that does not change the fact that this man has been a breath of life in the Arsenal defence. The problem with the team now is creativity and it is not something he is expected to offer. Even still, he has managed 2 goals so far. Arsenal have conceded 14 goals so far and Gabriel has been named the team’s Player of the Month about 3 times this season.
