    COVID-19 CONTACT TRACERS IN THE NORTH EAST REGION CRIED FOR UNPAID SALARY

    The whole world not forgetting Ghana for over right(8) months now have been seriously hit with the novel Coronavirus.

    Countries all over the globe have put in strategic interventions to mitigate and ameliorate the suffering of it’s people and to make up for the diehard commitment of it’s health staff in order to extrinsically motivate them to face the deadly covid19 virus with all the courage they can master from within them.

    In line with this the president of the republic Nana Akkufo Addo initiated the FRONTLINE HEALTH STAFF ALLOWANCE which many thought would have been all inclusive, but as usual your guess is as good as mine as over 90% of health staff countrywide were through some cruel and insensitive means eliminated without due consideration of their contributions to the fight agaisnt the novel virus.

    As if that was not enough, the few that qualified per the cruel criteria set by the ministry of health, a lot of the health workers are still waiting anxiously for their promised allowances three months done the line.

    Information trickling in from the NORTH EAST REGION suggest that the FRONTLINE HEALTH STAFF’S have not been paid even a pesewa from the said monies whiles many other regions are said to have been paid, which has in actual fact brewed grave dissatisfaction amongst health staff thus increasing and intensifying *inertia* in the said selected few staffs.

    It’s worth noting that, a few months ago, Walewale, Nalerigu recorded covid19 cases which necessitated the setting up of covid19 *contact tracing teams* , information available to us indicates that contact tracing lasted 25 days of which only *five(5)* days amounting to *Ghc750* payment was made by the municipal health director in collaboration with the regional health director, with over 150*20= *2,250* waved off.

    The questions begging for answers are;
    when are you paying the rest of the monies?
    Or is it the case that they have been robbed entirely?
    We demand answers says one of the anonymous contact tracers!!!

    They lucky selected few Frontline health staff will also want to find out from the Regional and Municipal health directors why the entire region has been ignored in terms of their 50% salary allowances.

    It’s appalling, disrespectful and a breach of the Goodwill and psychological contract the government signed with the privileged few.

    More to follow soon!
