    The liver also plays a very important role in detoxifying chemicals and it metabolizes drugs we take into our body. As it does so, the liver secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines. The liver also makes proteins important for blood clotting and other functions, these is what makes the liver a very important organ in the body and to keep it healthy we must follow these health tips and avoid these things listed below.

    QUIT SMOKING


    Tobacco is packed with 250% harmful chemicals, 70% of them cause cancer, and this causes more than just lung cancer, it also leads to having Liver, mouth, throat, bladder, kidney, and stomach cancer. It is best you avoid smoking but if you already do, the sooner you stop the better for you.

    STOP EXCESSIVE ALCOHOL INTAKE

    Too much alcohol leads to cancer of the Liver, mouth, breast and esophagus. Taking too much alcohol increases the risk of cancer, do it in moderation, women should take one per day and men should stick to two per day. Everyone has different capacity for alcohol so the earlier you know your body capacity and stick within it's range the better for you.

    EXERCISE FREQUENTLY


    Frequent exercising helps to reduce the risk of having obesity and lowers the level of hormones like insulin and estrogen, which lead to having Liver cancer. Engage yourself in exercising, the type that gets your heart pumping.

    GET VACCINATED


    Make sure your children and adults between the age of 9 to 26 are necessarily vaccinated, it helps prevent you from cancers, certain HPV vaccines prevent cancers of the Liver, cervix, vagina and anus. Contact the nearest public health center to know the necessary vaccines to available to be administered if you have not done so and still in that age range.

    EAT MORE  VEGETABLES


    Fruits and vegetables also help prevent cancers and liver damage because they are high in nutrients, fiber, and low in fat. Eat Ugwu as known locally or pumpkin leave, cabbage, Greens, Water melon and carrot among other fruits, they protect against DNA damage that can turn cells cancerous.

    PROCESSED MEATS


    Processed meat is very bad for the body as studies made have shown that processed meats, like hot dogs, bacon, and sausage have chemicals in them called nitrites, and nitrites lead to cancer and damages the liver, so it is better you choose a safer alternatives like, chicken breast or fish and meat directly from the abattoir or meat market.


    ALWAYS USE A CONDOM OR AVOID UNPROTECTED SEX

    Unprotected sex with multiple sexual partners is very dangerous and may lead contracting any of the various sexually transmitted diseases, asides from the fact that one might contract AIDS which is preached heavily, one might also contract Hepatitis A or B which has been known to be a number one Liver killer and has no known cure, but can be managed, so it is better to be safe than sorry.
