OLE GUNNAR SOLKSJAER TEASES EXCITING CONNECTION BETWEEN PAUL POGBA AND BRUNO FERNANDES

Pogba is nearing a return from injury and Solskjaer insists the Frenchman is 'raring to go' when football does resume, where he can finally pair him with new boy Fernandes

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is excited as any Manchester United fan by the prospect of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba playing together.

Fernandes has been sensational since arriving at United in January and the Portugal star has scored three goals and made four assists in his first nine games.

Pogba was United’s main creative force last season when Solskjaer returned to take over at Old Trafford and the French World Cup winner has recovered from his ankle surgery.

United supporters cannot wait to see them unleashed together when football returns and Solskjaer is adamant he can accommodate both stars in his midfield.

“Good players can always play together, so definitely that’s a big yes,” said the United boss. “But then I have got Scott, Fred, Nemanja, three players there.

There are many games coming up and I’m sure we will find a good connection between them. As a coaching team we are looking forward to it

It’s exciting. We do have an exciting squad. Bruno came in and made an impact and that’s been great for everyone. That was a boost for the club, for the supporters and the players.

Pogba has only made eight appearances this season for United because of injury and last played on Boxing Day.

Solskjaer claims he is raring to go and says the shutdown is giving him and Marcus Rashford, who has been out since January with a back injury, time to recover.

I definitely think Paul is raring to go,” he told Sky Sports’ The Football Show. “Paul has had a difficult season with injuries. He said that himself.

“Marcus as well is getting better. For those two, this gives them a chance to start on a par or even ahead of the other players if, and when, we get going.

“They have been focused and mentally it’s maybe easier for them to train hard now because they can see light at the end of the tunnel.”

Rashford’s lay-off was frustrating for United and Solskjaer because the England striker was enjoying his best campaign with 19 goals for his club.
