NDC WESTERN REGIONAL CHAIRMAN IN TROUBLE! OVER PLOT TO MAKE MAHAMA LOSE 2020 POLLS

SINISTER plots and plans being allegedly hatched by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Western Regional Chairman, Nana Toku, Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi East Constituency Mr Akwasi Oppong Fosu and other cohorts within the NDC in the Western Region which are currently sailing the former President John Dramani Maham and the party into a massive defeat has exposed by the members of the Coalition for Social Democracy and Accountable Governance (COSDAG).


At a press conference held yesterday the Conveners of COSDAG, Mr Godfred Bassanyin and Obed Dickson Nkrumah on behalf of the group stated that it is very disheartening, infuriating and provocating with regards to the negative actions championed by the joint efforts Nana Toku, Mr Oppong Fosu and other cohorts.

“We would want to make a strong clarification that these mentioned personalities including some others within the NDC Party are the root perpetuators and cause of NDC’s diminishing strength at Amenfi East Constituency characterized by parochial undemocratic actions since 2014,” he noted.

This, according to the leadership of the group has extremely affected the party’s fortunes and as a matter of fact there is a progressive dwindle, retrogressive and diminishing electoral outcome been surfaced within the stated period and hereafter.

The noted that the joint pursuance of parochial interests and undemocratic actions by these leaders has caused a deep crack and firm segregation in the NDC Party front at Amenfi East which is gradually weakening our strength.

“All their actions are a clear signal of pushing an intra – opposition agenda against the victory of Former President H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the NDC Party in general come December, 2020.

“We humbly wish to make H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the entire Campaign Team including the Leading NDC Machinery aware of the parochial, veto, autocratic, undemocratic and selfish acts of Nana Toku, Hon. Akwasi Oppong Fosu and their caucus which is sailing the party into a massive defeat,” they cautioned.


They reiterated that H.E. John Dramani Mahama should be very cautious and watchful in assigning appointment and leadership roles to the mentioned personalities and their caucus in his next government.

They further emphasized that “Our humble advice to H.E. J.D. Mahama is that, he should be very tactical and cautious not to appoint any of these selfish leaders in the Western Region into his government come January, 2021.

NANA TOKU AND HON. AKWASI OPPONG FOSU ARE ANTI – MAHAMA AND INTRA – OPPONENTS OF NDC’S VICTORY

Good morning to all and sundry, distinguished Democrats and the good people of Amenfi East, Western Region and Ghana as a whole. We extend warm greetings from our end and wish all a blissful week.

It is very disheartening, infuriating and provocating with regards to the negative actions championed by the joint efforts of NDC Western Regional Chairman Nana Toku, Former Member (MP) for Amenfi East Constituency Hon. They are fueling disputes creation and causing deep party cracks at Amenfi East and Western Region in general which will affect the party strongly.

NDC – Amenfi East has now become a ‘Household Party’ just because of a collective parochial projection by these personalities which is strongly detrimental to the party’s fortunes thereby disenfranchising the party masses and pushing a lot out of the party, we believe strongly that, it is a social democratic party but we may ask – why this undemocratic approach now. We are serving the common interest of the NDC Party not a ‘Caucus or Household Group’.

Several incidence which are deliberately championed by these personalities including the following: undemocratic approach employed in the appointment of a District Chief Executive (DCE) in 2015 after Hon. Baidoo Acheampong was reshuffled, also during the Constituency Executive Elections held in 2018, eligible party folks picked nomination forms to be elected as Party Executives.

But the principles of democracy were thrown into the gutters thereby electing executives without the intention of all the party Branch Executives Machinery and excluding the Chairmanship position which challenged at the Law Court by one aspirant of the remaining three (3).


After attempts were made to resolve the issues at hand, Nana Toku appointed Robert Gyan as an Acting Chairman, a co – aspirant in the chairmanship race thereby causing deep crack and confusion in the party.

Also, a reconciliation meeting was held before nomination forms for Parliamentary Aspirants were opened which was chaired this same Regional chairman.

Four (4) picked but two (2) stepped down remaining eligible aspirants namely; Rex Asamoah Twum and Dr. Tony Aubynn.

All the electoral processes including picking and filing of nomination forms have been done, vetting has also been conducted remaining balloting and conduct of an election of a Parliamentary Aspirant to lead the party at the Constituency.

Nana Toku confronted Rex Asamoah Twum to also step down for Dr. Tony Aubynn to be declared unopposed but because of the aspirant’s refusal, several deliberate allegations to suspend the Candidate amassed with fictitious actions against the aspirant have been perpetuated by these personalities betraying the known democracy practiced by the NDC party in general.

It is a collective call on the Party leaders to intervene and see to it that the right thing is done without disqualify any Candidate whiles he has been vetted and cleared.

Also, they should ensure that, the principles of democracy are ensured and practiced to yield better electoral results and outcome for the party in this upcoming election and any other future elections.

For the benefit of the NDC Party in general, we wish that democracy will be practiced and parliamentary primaries to be held soon to elect a Parliamentary Candidate for the party.

Together there can be an unflinching and massive victory.
