FREE SHS DOUBLE-TRACK SYSTEM TO END BEFORE 2024 – AKUFO-ADDO

President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that the double policy which was introduced into our education system to reduce overcrowding in various Senior High Schools (SHS) will end before 2024.

Due to inadequate infrastructure in the various SHSs, it left the government no other chance to group the students into batches called Gold and Green Tracks.

Akufo-Addo speaking in an interview on Wontumi radio disclosed the his government is doing their best to increase the infrastructural base of the SHSs to accommodate all students and also end the double-track system.

Nana Akufo-Addo said “basically, it’s a question of infrastructure and we are working on it. As you sit here, I’m aware you know that we are working at providing the needed infrastructure to accommodate all students under the Free SHS policy”.

He continued that “All the schools across the country are expanding their infrastructure so that they can take more people and when that is done hopefully I believe that by the end of my second term, the gold track, the green track will have come to an end and we will have a unified system again because we will have the infrastructure to support the intake”.
