BOKO HARAM : DEFEATED SHEKAU PLAYING DOUBLE GAMES WITH HIS SPONSORS - COALITION

    - A civil society organisation has said that Boko Haram commander, Abubakar Shekau, knows that he is at the end of the road.

The president of the CSO warned that Shekau is engaged in an exercise that will either end in his death or his eventual capture if he continues to play double games with the army - According to the coalition, the period which Shekau and his fighters have been scrambling around in Sambisa Forest must have affected his sense of reasoning

The Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism (CATE) has said that the leader of Boko Haram terrorist group Abubakar Shekau is playing double games with his sponsors. The coalition said that the Boko Haram commander knows he is almost at the end of the road.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have surmounted the terrorists in recent weeks with both land and air offensives. Scores of the insurgents have also lost their lives while few others who survived like Shekau were said to be on the verge of surrendering to the troops, staring defeat on the face.

However, the factional leader, in a viral audio clip, refuted the Army’s onslaught despite overwhelming evidence. CATE said it believes this is just a coy to extort funds from his sponsors, bragging to satisfy them on one hand, retreating on the other. In a statement signed by the national coordinator, Gabriel Onoja, on Friday, May 1, the centre warned Shekau that he is engaged in an exercise in futility, one that will either end in his death or his eventual capture.

CATE, therefore, urged the Army not to keep the option of surrender on the table indefinitely, allowing troops to haul Shekau into custody with the speed of light. Presidency releases statement on Kano mass deaths, says autopsies ongoing to know the cause The group said Shekau futilely attempted to shake off the decimation that has been visited on his band of terrorists by the Nigerian Army. He said, however, the army had taken a previous beating from the military of Chad. s

CATE said it believes this is just a coy to extort funds from his sponsors, bragging to satisfy them on one hand, retreating on the other. Source: Twitter "First, it took Shekau this long to record audio from his bolt hole and he cannot even do a good job of it as he was only able to record eight-minute 22 seconds of a rant before he had to scurry off again, afraid that he would be bombarded into oblivion," Onoja said. Onoja added that the period that Shekau and his fighters have been scrambling around in Sambisa Forest must have affected him.

"CATE categorically warns Shekau that he is engaged in an exercise in futility, one that will either end in his death or his eventual capture that will amount to the height of ridicule for the persona he has built for himself with people’s blood," Onoja added.

Nigeria's president, Muhammadu Buhari, had called on the military to ensure Boko Haram terrorists are eliminated. The president gave the directive on Thursday, April 30, in Abuja after Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state paid him a visit. Buhari in the directive said he was satisfied with the giant strides being recorded by the armed forces in the fight against insurgency.

Also, a religious group had announced its plan to begin prayers for the troops of the Nigerian Army as they fight insurgency in the northeast region of Nigeria. The group in a statement declared an “hour of victory” for the Nigerian Army in its final clearance operation against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists. The clerics urged the troops on the frontlines to step up their game and deliver the final punch to the insurgents.
